Hazel Crest Cops Shoot, Kill Dog During Search For Fugitive
Chicago - December 26, 2012 10:59 AM"Kobi", a 70-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback mix was shot dead. Chanette Weaver said a police officer told her officers were acting in self-defense when they shot Kobi. Weaver said she’d, "...just put Kobi in her closed, fenced-in yard at about 6:50 a.m. on Christmas Eve. She said, five minutes later, Hazel Crest police showed up at her door." telling her they shot her dog.
This is yet another of hundreds of police shootings of family pets, often at the wrong address and simply decide to kill the dog instead of taking a chance it *might* attack them. Clearly it is time for Public Citizens to "Stand up" for their beloved pets and demand major changes in current city laws and ordinances.
